Making a Lasting Impact to Help Nourish Our Neighbors in Need
WINTER 2023
Lucille Werlinich and her family have been supporters of Feeding Westchester since the early 2000s, back when Feeding Westchester was called Food Patch. She also served as a board member for 9 years.
A few years ago, Lucille included Feeding Westchester in her estate plan and joined our Nourish Tomorrow planned giving society. Why? “Because being generous in my lifetime will end, and in some fashion, I want to continue giving to and supporting the organizations I care for and help ensure they continue in the future.” Lucille’s planned gift is a natural extension of her passion and dedication to the mission of Feeding Westchester and other charities she supports.
Growing up, Lucille remembered her mom’s passion for helping others.
“As a teenager, I recall helping her raise money going door to door.”
She watched how some people would give $5, and some would give $100. Witnessing the power of this door-to-door giving inspired Lucille’s passion for giving back to her community as a donor and a volunteer. Her own charitable giving started with $100/ year in $1 increments, then gradually moved to $2, then to $5. As her salary went up over the years while working for Citibank, she became a patron for organizations she supported by increasing her giving.
Lucille encourages supporters of Feeding Westchester to consider a legacy you can leave to continue the fight against hunger in Westchester County. It can be an effortless step to make a bequest intention through an estate plan, or other gift method. You can ensure the continuation of your support to Feeding Westchester’s mission well into the future.
